Shopping for feet May 10 by Steve
As Wayne suggested, I spent a couple days surfing the web and thinking about what feet I would like to try. One big challenge for me is that my stump is pretty long, and many of the newer energy storing feet are too tall for me to wear. Some feet come in regular and “low profile” (short) heights, but it’s still a limiting factor and rules out some exciting feet. Here’s a copy of the email I sent him (with added photos from the web URLs listed):
Wayne,
Here’s my list of feet I’d like to try out. I’d prefer the shortest heel height available on each. I realized I forgot to have you measure my build height the other day, but I’ve measured 8.25″ from the bottom of the socket (where it meets the base of the pyramid) to the floor when standing.
1. Ossur Vari-Flex
I remember trying this one out years ago, but don’t think I’ve ever worn it long-term, and have forgotten what it felt like in any case. Maybe this would provide a bit more shock absorption than the Renegade?

2. Freedom Innovations Renegade
My only real complaint about this now is that it seems to bottom out when I compress it heavily, which makes me wish it had a bit more vertical compression A nice foot otherwise, so I’d like to try it again and see how it compares to these others.

3. Endolite Elite
I know nothing of this foot, but the design looks like it combines the heel of the Renegage for vertical compression with the split keel of the Vari-Flex for multi-axial movement. Might be interesting…

long shot: Ohio Willow Wood Pathfinder II LP
I remember you had mentioned this one a few years back as a lower-maintenance alternative to the Flex-Foot Re-Flex VSP. I had gotten a little tired of having to break down the Re-Flex and re-lube the shock all the time–plus I seemed to shear the pins to easily–so I’d like to give this one a shot and see how it compares. Height might be a problem, though. OWW’s clearance chart says I would only need 8.1″ of clearance for the LP model if you used a threaded 4-hole adapter. If you think this is feasible to fit under me, let’s try it.

Thanks!
